Touring new communities
When we say we are having a housing shortage, I think it is true to some extent. I toured 14 new communities in the Inland Empire recently and I am quite fascinated by how many homes are being built off the 71fwy, 60fwy, and in between the 15fwy. The style of homes varied from single story, to two stories, 1 bedroom down stairs, lofts upstairs, shared driveways, and townhome like properties. Another interesting thought is that it appears that developers are collaborating with one another to build Master Communities within their SubCommunities. Many of these communities have things in common such as HOA and slightly higher tax rates than a pre-existing home. If you are looking to purchase one of these new homes, I would suggest you get with your loan officer to consider the HOA cost and tax rate as these may be deciding factors on your qualifications and total monthly obligation.
