Mudrooms are disappearing from homes

Living in the Los Angeles Metro area almost my entire life didn’t allow me the opportunity to know what a mudroom was until I started my real estate career and casually browsed through homes in middle America out of curiosity to learn how properties across the United States looked like. What striked my attention was this neatly packed room between the garage and the kitchen. This room which what I would call a caddy corner drop station but it was 100 times bigger and a thousand times prettier. This area of the home is called a mudroom that’s consisted of hooks for your winter coats, shoe trays for your everyday sneakers and some times your laundry room shared in with this mudroom. Ever since I’ve discovered this I couldn’t unsee it nor unfeel it, I longed for it.

Knowing the location I wanted to live in, this mudroom would have never happened, at least I wouldn’t want to afford it! Today, I came across a wayfair article saying mudrooms are disappearing from homes. My urban, tiny home living self thought, who, what? Just like us, the rest of America is in need to makeshift rooms and would be mudrooms into bedrooms?! LOL! – no, this is not the case at all. In fact, in this wayfair article, it teaches us who want mudrooms how to fake a mudroom! How fun is that!!

This article down below gives us 3 ideas on how to make a mudroom out of a narrow hallway or an under used corner using storage benches, hooks, slim console tables and so much more!
